I was responsible for directing all aspects of the animal research facilities (25,000 s.f. facility housing an average daily census of 22,500 animals); regulatory compliance (USDA, NIH, AAALAC, Int., OSHA), animal care & health, developing & implementing policies, fiscal planning & management, new program development, facilities expansion planning. Member of the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee and Institutional Biosafety Committee.
Instructor of the Laboratory Animal Technology course and Continuing Education workshops. Participated in curriculum and facilities planning.
Managed daily operations of a large & complex animal research (6 locations totaling 100,000 s.f. & average daily census of 50,000 animals) & postdoctoral training program.
Developed & managed the research surgical unit. Facilities comprised of 4 continuously running O.R.’s, 2 large & small animal recovery areas & ancillary rooms.
