Healing Springs Animal Hospital offers onsite echocardiograms by appointment. An echocardiogram is a non-invasive ultrasound of the heart as it functions (a.k.a. making a movie of the heart in action). In dogs and cats, echocardiograms are the gold standard for diagnosis of most heart diseases such as congestive heart failure, tumors, congenital abnormalities, etc.
We can save you the trip to Blacksburg or Greensboro. While our fees, apples to apples, are very competitive, echocardiograms are not inexpensive. However, echocardiograms can save families money in the long run by preventing unnecessary, long-term treatment rising out of less accurate diagnostics such as listening through a stethoscope. More importantly, echocardiograms can refine the diagnosis and make treatment more effective for your furry family members.
At Healing Springs Animal Hospital, echocardiograms are taken by an ultrasonographer with more than 1,000 hours experience from an internship at VA Tech, and echocardiograms are read by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist.
